It has been quite the journey these last 17 years as a coach and 19 years in education. I have learned a lot about myself but more importantly I learned a lot about the runners/students who have come through the program. Most left a lasting impression on me, some of those impressions were good some not so good, but I never have not enjoyed each season more than the last one. During this time, I have had 5 grandchildren born, and have continued to run and race. I have lost most of the hair I once had and gained way more wrinkles and weight than I ever wanted. The program from a competitive standpoint has not reached the heights that I expect of myself and I blame me for not being able to place district banners in the gym each year. Yet, I have seen many Personal Records achieved by these athletes. Times they never expected of themselves but ones I was never surprised they hit. I have seen boys turn into young men and smiles so big from the proud parents. It has been my pleasure to watch each boy turn into a young man, ones that parents can be proud of. The time as the leader of BFND running is coming to a close and one day soon the sun will set on my time at Cy-Fair High School. The 2024-2025 might be my swan song year, but it is not the end of BFND Running. The program will continue to grow and runners will continue to achieve and prosper because that is just the way it was meant to be.
